Using an interdisciplinary and rigorous curriculum, we expose students to real-life professional experiences and issues in healthcare.
We believe that a diverse body of students in health professional schools today will improve the health of the nation tomorrow by building a health care workforce that draws on the strengths of all segments of our diverse society.
COLLEGE AND CAREER READY
AP Capstone Diploma Program | Emergency Medical Technician CTE Pathway | LAMC Health Occupations Program |
AP Capstone is an innovative program created by the College Board, and we are proud to be one of fewer than 200 schools in the state of California to offer this rigorous pathway to our students.
The AP Capstone program encompasses two year long AP courses, AP Seminar and AP Research, that develop students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting.
Students who complete the program successfully can earn either an AP Capstone Diplomas or an AP Seminar and Research Certificate. These honors are reported to colleges and universities as AP Scholar Awards and appear in Scholar Roster Reports, which help them to stand out on their college applications.

The Kennedy Gifted Medical Magnet offers a Patient Care/Emergency Medical Technician career pathway that prepares students for emergency medical services (EMS) occupations.
The pathway consists of two courses, Health Science and Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Technician, that emphasize both technical skills (ex. first aid and CPR for children, airway management, bleeding control techniques) and vocational skills (ex. situational awareness, medical terminology, legal and ethical issues).
Graduates who successfully complete this pathway will meet the training requirements for Emergency Medical Technician-1 (EMT-1), and they can pursue certification once they turn 18.
|
Students interested in exploring vocations in the healthcare can participate in the Health Occupations Fundamentals Certificate Program through our partnership with Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC).
The program includes six courses that introduce students to the basic knowledge and skill sets as well as cultural and legal issues in health occupations.
This certificate serves a stepping stone to other LAMC programs such Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) & Home Health Aide (HHA) Training, Pharmacy Technician Certificate/Degree, and the Fundamentals of Medical Billing & Coding Certificate.
