Kennedy Cares

School-Based Psychiatric Social Workers (PSWs) services provide a range of preventive, early intervention, and acute mental health assessments and treatments in group, individual, classroom or family modalities. PSWs support a school-wide foundation of positive discipline, safe climate, academic success, and mental and emotional wellness by helping develop and sustain a caring school environment that promotes problem-solving skills and positive behavior support. PSWs lead school-wide campaigns to support a positive and safe school environment, facilitate evidence-based practices in the classroom to support student well-being and resilience, facilitate parenting/caregivers groups, consultation services for staff and families, and promotes emotional well-being of all students, families and staff through referrals and supports.

Resources for Managing Your Mental Health

Connection is one of the strongest protective factors against adversity and a powerful indicator of longevity and well-being.

"Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives."
— Bessel A. van der Kolk

When students know they can count on their school community to support them, they are more likely to ask for help and demonstrate greater outcomes.

“ Being safe is about being seen and heard and allowed to be who you are and to speak your truth"
